Home removals across Dorchester, done properly.
Georgian and Victorian town houses, Poundbury's classical terraces, village cottages down lanes that were never measured for a Luton, farmhouses with a yard gate, and the downsizers moving out of all of them. One county town, and a very broad range of front doors.
- Surveyed before quotedAt the property, or by video if that suits you better.
- Rural access checked firstLanes, tracks and gateways looked at before a vehicle is committed.

Moving across Dorchester, done properly
A county town with about six different kinds of front door within ten minutes of the centre, and a great deal of lane beyond that. Here is what actually shapes a move here.
- 01
The town is the easy half
Georgian and Victorian stock in and around the centre, post-war estates on the edges, and a conservation area covering much of the middle. Straightforward work with one caveat: on period property the building is usually more fragile than the contents, so protection goes down before anything moves.
- 02
Poundbury has its own rules
A deliberately traditional street plan — narrow, courtyards, rear lanes, on-street designated parking rather than driveways. Entirely workable and not somewhere to improvise. We establish the loading point before the date is confirmed.
- 03
Most of the patch is a lane
Charminster, Puddletown, Broadmayne, Maiden Newton and everything between. Single track with few passing places, branches that will not clear a high vehicle, gateways built for a tractor. Nothing rural is quoted without driving the approach first.
- 04
Farms are not houses with fields
The house is the quick part. The barn, the workshop, the stable block and the machinery are what make the day, and they are consistently left out of estimates given over the phone.
- 05
A lot of it is downsizing
Family house to bungalow, bungalow to something smaller. Rarely one step, almost always needs somewhere for the undecided things to go, and always benefits from an honest conversation about what will not fit in the new place.
- 06
The A35 decides long moves
Single carriageway for long stretches with limited overtaking, east to Poole and west towards Bridport. A move leaving the county is planned with a realistic first leg rather than an optimistic one.
Storage that is part of the move, not bought in from someone else
Containerised household and business storage, loaded by the same crews that pack the house and racked indoors in our own yard. Which is why, when a completion slips at four in the afternoon, the answer here is a sentence rather than a scramble.
How storage works- Wrapped before it goes inEverything protected as if for transit, not after it has been scuffed.
- A written inventoryYou keep a copy, with valuable pieces listed individually.
- One handling at each endNo shuffle between units and no van hire on your side.
- Household and businessBetween completions, during building work, or stock and records for a business between premises.

Whole households across DT1 — town period property, Poundbury, the estates and the family homes people spend thirty years filling.

Before you get in touch
Do you cover the villages as well as the town?
Most of our work is village and rural, not town. Charminster, Puddletown, Broadmayne, Maiden Newton, Cerne Abbas, Martinstown and the lanes between them. The town itself is the easy half of the patch.
What is different about moving in Poundbury?
The layout, mostly. Narrow streets with a deliberately traditional plan, courtyards and rear lanes, on-street parking rather than driveways on much of it, and a management company with views about where vehicles stand. It is perfectly workable and it is not somewhere to turn up and improvise.
Can you get down a farm track?
Depends entirely on the track, which is why we look before quoting. Single-track lanes with no passing places, branches that will not clear a high vehicle, gateways built for a tractor, and surfaces that soften after a wet week. Where a full-size vehicle cannot reach, we shuttle from the nearest sensible point.
Do you do storage?
Yes, and it is a proper part of what we do rather than an afterthought. Containerised household storage between completions, and business storage for stock, records and equipment. Wrapped, listed on an inventory and racked indoors in our own yard.
Is this Dorchester in Dorset?
Yes — the county town, DT1, on the A35. Not Dorchester-on-Thames in Oxfordshire and not anywhere in London. If you have found us searching for one of those, this is not the right firm.
Moving in or out of Dorchester?
Send both addresses and a rough idea of the volume. We come out and look — or do it on a video call if that suits you better — then quote in writing.
